Cutting edge nanotechnology, hidden in plain view.
Jul 3rd
While the Maserati Quattroporte boasts many technological and engineering advancements to the Sport Saloon architecture, one might not expect these to include one of the first major uses of Nanocomposites in the engine bay. Maserati contracted for the major engine bay covers to be made by Rieter Automotive, molded from Ube nylon 6 nanocomposite, containing 2% nanoclay by weight. The use of nanoclay in the composite decreases weight, increases mechanical performance, especially at high temperatures, and features improved surface appearance vs. glass-reinforced nylons.
Rieter Automotive has in fact been awarded the Ferrari Technology Award for the excellent cooperation between Ferrari/Maserati and Rieter Automotive Systems. Rieter Automotive Systems was recognized for its “sophisticated and efficient technology of soundproofing components and hot air housings”.

“SIMPLY THE BEST OF THE BEST. AGAIN”
Jun 19th
“The Maserati Quattroporte. Simply the Best of the Best. Again. Or should we say “still”? Robb Report doesn’t allow a car to contest its prized “Best of the Best” in consecutive years, so winning again in its first appearance since the 2004 award is as close to a repeat victory as possible. It’s something no car has accomplished until now, as the Quattroporte Sport GT has been named “Best of the Best” sedan, 2006.
And to celebrate, Maserati has introduced a special lease offer on the Quattroporte;

Maserati’s 4.2 liter V8 Quattroporte is faster than BMWs 5.0 liter V10 M5. The Quattroporte is quicker around a track than BMWs best sports sedan. Britain’s evo magazine proved this conclusively on its Bedford Autodrome test circuit, which the Quattroporte lapped in considerably less time, being far the fastest four door, and the fastest real four seat car yet tested. The Quattroporte’s advantage is most devastating in the corners, where it bested the M5, and a number of current Porsches, Mercedes’, Bentleys and others, by a wide margin. This is, of course, the mark of accessible speed and real world performance; evo noted that the Quattroporte is in a completely superior class for luxury, as well.

This is the new Sport GT, the edgier Quattroporte for those who want even more performance from the sports sedan that evo says “redefines big car handling”. evo blasted a Quattroporte around their test track in less time than the V10 BMW M5, proving the Maserati is the fastest real world sports sedan available. The new Quattroporte Sport GT ups the ante with even better handling and a brilliantly engineered concentration on usable performance.
Five more international awards for the Maserati Quattroporte
Feb 3rd
” Important recognition also came from France and the respected Automobile Magazine. The publication elected the Quattroporte the “Best Car” in the luxury berlina category in its 26 January edition. As Stephane Meunier, editor of the French monthly, pointed out, the Trident vehicle is the only car to have received this award of three consecutive occasions. This is testimony to the extent to which the Quattroporte is valued by the French public.
To conclude, the Quattroporte was voted the “Best Car 2006” in the “Luxury” class by the Swiss magazine, Auto Illustrierte. The Modenese model took the prize for the second successive time and attracted 25% of the votes polled. This was almost 10% more than its nearest rival.
Since its international launch in September 2003, the Maserati Quattroporte has received 27 international awards.”

Maserati’s $100,000 sedan helps automaker turnaround in North America
This is a fantastic article from AutoWeek about the current status of Maserati, as well as their future ambitions.
Quattroporte Voted Best Imported Luxury Car
”Readers of Germany’s leading car magazine, Auto Zeitung, have voted the Maserati Quattroporte the best Imported Luxury Car for the second consecutive year. The Quattroporte far outstripped the second place Bentley Continental Flying Spur, with almost double the votes.
German voters appreciate the Quattroporte’s advanced engineering, performance technology and quality – a strong endorsement from a country whose affinity for all things technical is well known. This is the second consecutive year in which the Quattroporte’s unique blend of performance, style, and luxury earned clear victory in the category. Since the Bentley is essentially a German car, the discerning and highly demanding German public has signaled its agreement that Maserati sets the standard for premium luxury sports sedans. They have also recognized true exclusivity in saying the Quattroporte is the car to drive on the Autobahn and boulevard.”
Maserati Quattroporte: Ciao, Bella: An Italian Opera in Four Doors (By Ted West, NYTimes)
October 9, 2005 — They took back my Maserati today. No, worse. They made me drive it to Maserati North America in New Jersey and surrender it. That wasn’t easy. (This article is available by full or temporary subscription to the New York Times)
A great article about how one New York Times writer came to love the Quattroporte, “On my first few tries, DuoSelect shifted like a bag of broken glass.” “All it asked of me was some touch and a little technique. Shifting became like driving the pedals of a pipe organ. I was playing the DuoSelect as if it were Puccini.” “The Quattroporte beckons to those stalwart few who believe a car should have a soul.”
