Robb Report Names the GranTurismo MC its Car of the Year Runner Up
Feb 28th
It might seem silly to brag about a second-place finish, but hear us out. Robb Report has just name the Maserati GranTurismo MC the runner-up in its annual Car of the Year contest, losing only Lamborghini’s astonishing new Aventador. Who’s to blame them, really. The Aventador is, after all, the first all new raging bull since 2004, and it has nearly 700 horsepower. And something called “Thrust mode,” whatever that is.
The Maserati’s second-place finish is especially noteworthy since the MC isn’t an all-new model. Yes, there are a number of significant changes to the car from the new bodywork to the more powerful yet more efficient engine, but it’s not too terribly different to the GranTurismo S. Those changes, though, make a very big difference in the feel and performance of the car. Robb report summed it up by saying, “No one could find fault with the GranTurismo MC. Indeed, the MC might have topped the Aventador if bonus points were awarded for sales, because more judges expressed interest in purchasing this car than any other at the contest.” High praise, indeed.

2011 Bentley Continental GT is TopGear’s Grand Tourer of the Year!
Jan 6th
Can’t say we disagree. Top Gear had this to say:
“”Aargh! A Camel!” is not what you want to hear while travelling at speed around a corner in a £130k GT. If you were to provide some sort of macabre menu of final phrases to hear before you die, it would also come very close to the bottom of my personal list, somewhere between “I think that’s poisonous” and “What are you doing with that hammer?” Nevertheless, here we are, my German friend Juergen and I, both trying desperately to push the brake pedal of the new Bentley Continental GT into and past the shag pile and regretting the car’s not-inconsiderable 2,350kg mass. To make matters even more bizarre, Juergen is a passenger. Juergen doesn’t even have a brake pedal. ”

“SIMPLY THE BEST OF THE BEST. AGAIN”
Jun 19th
“The Maserati Quattroporte. Simply the Best of the Best. Again. Or should we say “still”? Robb Report doesn’t allow a car to contest its prized “Best of the Best” in consecutive years, so winning again in its first appearance since the 2004 award is as close to a repeat victory as possible. It’s something no car has accomplished until now, as the Quattroporte Sport GT has been named “Best of the Best” sedan, 2006.
And to celebrate, Maserati has introduced a special lease offer on the Quattroporte;

Five more international awards for the Maserati Quattroporte
Feb 3rd
” Important recognition also came from France and the respected Automobile Magazine. The publication elected the Quattroporte the “Best Car” in the luxury berlina category in its 26 January edition. As Stephane Meunier, editor of the French monthly, pointed out, the Trident vehicle is the only car to have received this award of three consecutive occasions. This is testimony to the extent to which the Quattroporte is valued by the French public.
To conclude, the Quattroporte was voted the “Best Car 2006” in the “Luxury” class by the Swiss magazine, Auto Illustrierte. The Modenese model took the prize for the second successive time and attracted 25% of the votes polled. This was almost 10% more than its nearest rival.
Since its international launch in September 2003, the Maserati Quattroporte has received 27 international awards.”

Way to Spend $100,000
“Interstate 394 isn’t the autostrada, but the recent introduction by Morrie’s Automotive of Maserati (plus its new show room) certainly added a little more Milan to the metro. About thirty-five TC tastemakers have already purchased hand-built Italian Coupes, Spyders, and Quattroportes. Customers choose from three wood grains, ten leather options, twenty-five paint finishes, and many other extras to personalize their ride. And at an average of $125,000 a pop, these cars are sure to stand out in the daily gridlock.”
