What’s Going On – Week of 7/26/16

Flying Legends of Victory Tour – July 26th through July 31st

flying_legends_poster_0_1468501022

Having spent my fair share of time breaking (I really have a knack for it) and subsequently repairing vintage vehicles, I’m always a bit baffled at how airplanes exist. Particularly vintage airplanes. With this in mind, it is really quite remarkable to get up close to legendary warplanes and see their inner mechanical workings. The Flying Legends of Victory Tour provides such an opportunity and if you’re brave enough to take to the skies in a vintage plane they’ll even take you for a ride in a B-17 Flying Fortress.

Thursday Night Car Show at the Minnetonka Drive-In – Thursday, July 28th

minnetonka drive-in

If you find a refreshing absence of activity in your Thursday night family calendar I’d recommend swinging down to the Minnetonka Drive-In for its Thursday night car show. It’s a great opportunity to go for a cruise around Lake Minnetonka, enjoy some classic drive-in food and explore an eclectic mix of vintage rides. The only thing that would make it better is a classic ride of your own. Fortunately, we have 33 you can choose from. We’ll even buy your dinner if you decide to bring one of our cars down.

Loring Park Art Festval – Saturday, July 30th and Sunday, July 31st

German Grand Prix

Dust off your lederhosen and consider joining us for our German Grand Prix live screening hosted at Morrie’s Luxury Auto Sunday morning. Since the race starts bright and early at 7am we’ll hold off on the Sauerkraut, but that doesn’t rule out German breakfast sausage does it? Or better yet maybe a little strudel?

What’s Going On – Week of 7/18/16

Minneapolis Aquatennial – July 20th through July 23rd

sandcastle

This week the Aquatennial descends on Minneapolis to celebrate the city’s lakes, rivers and streams via 70 plus scheduled activities. I could list them all off here, but it would most definitely mirror that scene in Forrest Gump where Bubba rattles off all the different shrimp dishes. Just take my word for it that there is a multitude of fun events including the Torchlight Parade, waterskiing shows, sand castle contests, fireworks and more.

Bike Night at MIA – Thursday, July 21

bike night

There are most definitely two camps when it comes to bikers. There are people who love them and people who loathe them. If you’re one of the latter you may as well stop reading. If you fancy a good bike and an evening dose of art MIA invites you to bike night, an evening affording the opportunity to ride through the museum (literally), revel with other bike enthusiasts, network with bike groups, indulge in the finest food truck fare and indulge in local brew.

Motion Products Inc. – Winning is the Only Pedigree

DSC_0077Blog_Ready

Motion Products Inc. was kind enough to host Morrie’s Luxury Auto and Morrie’s Heritage for a private tour at their facilities in rural Wisconsin last week. To say that we enjoyed ourselves is a bit of an understatement. Motion Products was founded over 30 years ago and in that time has become a world-renowned name for all things Ferrari, and they are now branching out into alternate luxury brands. “In the beginning it was a man and his passion for fast, beautiful cars and a desire to take his talents to the most powerful and influential stages in the world. Now a major player at such events as the Cavallino Classic and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, MPI’s passion and desire is what has defined the organization.” The company is made up of 45 experts that work out of 3 different locations and handle everything from service to full concourse level frame up restorations. “With hundreds of awards to our name and more than 500 cars and counting, MPI is a true leader in vintage Italian restorations.”

Psycho Suzi’s Motor Lounge – 1st Annual Father’s Day Car Show

DSC_0091Blog_Ready

We had the pleasure of spending our Father’s Day doing exactly what we would want to be doing. Hanging out and sponsoring the first annual Psycho Suzi’s Father’s Day car and bike show. A vintage and exotic car show taking place in Northeast Minneapolis at Psycho Suzi’s Motor Lounge on the river. Psycho Suzi’s is a tiki inspired bar that has one of our favorite riverfront patios in town, along with some of the best cheese curds and bloody mary’s a dad could ask for on his special day. We had a great showing of people checking out everything from a Nash Metropolitan to a newer Ferrari F-430 Spider, plus even a few motorcycles.

DSC_0135Blog_Ready

After hanging out and showing off some of the Morrie’s Heritage and Morrie’s Luxury Auto cars a few awards and gift certificates were handed out. With a strong presence of AMX cars it was only right that one took home the award for best car at the show. We can’t wait until next year and hope for the heat to drop from around 92 to maybe about 75 degrees, or we’ll just have bring more convertibles! Check out the photo gallery below to see some of the amazing cars and bikes from the show.

Skyline Mini Golf at the Walker – Now through September

A little construction at the Sculpture Garden isn’t stopping the Walker from bringing back its Skyline Mini-Golf course. This time around they moved it to the rooftop so you can tee up on the terrace.
