Halloween and Fall Fun Events – Ongoing

screen-shot-2016-10-25-at-9-43-02-am

News flash, Halloween is right around the corner. One could spend days aggregating a list of must attend Halloween and Fall fun activities, but what’s the point when it’s already been done? Twincities.com put together a lengthy list of Halloween events and activities to keep you busy through the Halloween season. Sure, it might not have that obscure local craft brewer pumpkin spice beer and food pairing dinner you’ve been counting down the days to, but the list is pretty darn exhaustive.

Making Trails in the Bentley Bentayga Off Road

During our recent track day Bentley was gracious enough to lend two well appointed Bentayga’s for the event. Even though they knew what we had planned for the day, they were gracious enough to send them out for us to use. While planning the track day we asked the staff at Brainerd International Raceway if they could construct an off-road course. They enthusiastically organized something special for our guests that wasn’t nothing short of amazing. The course they designed for us really had a good mix of elements to test the Bentayga and the optional All-Terrain specifications. The course started on a long hard packed dirt road, common in the north woods, while it didn’t challenge the Bentayga it was representative of what most people will encounter in Minnesota.

Further down the road we found deep sand which really showed off the ability of the terrain management’s sand mode, allowing us to dig through the ever changing conditions as the day went on. To show off how special the Bentley’s W12 engine was, we had two choices when it came to the inclines. One was a slow speed hard packed uneven terrain requiring a massive amount of torque. The other was a steep, loose sand trail requiring the speed that the 600 horsepower allows you to put to the ground. After taking customers around our course we had one more surprise for our passengers. We thought after showing the off road prowess we might as well show what this 5,400lb SUV could do from a dead stop to 60mph. Spoiler Alert: It’s 4 seconds flat

Monster Jam MPLS – Saturday – December 10th

I’ve been told I’m not allowed to swear in the newsletter, but this is the bleeping Monster Jam COMING BACK TO MINNESOTA!! “KIDS SEATS ARE STILL JUST $5!!” which might not be the case anymore, but “YOU CAN PAY FOR THE ENTIRE SEAT, BUT YOU’LL ONLY NEED THE EDGE” stays this time around. From what we’ve seen tickets start around $40 and go up to well over a hundred. We want to make sure to tell you about this one well in advance because you should be as excited as we are. Is Bigfoot still a thing?!?

13680693_10154276214630281_9216852424303448190_n

Sure it’s great to take the kids to the Minnesota Zoo and watch them experience all the animals, but half the time they are just running away and you aren’t able to see anything for yourself. Well, now is your chance to see all the animals during adult night at the zoo. You can even grab a drink and some food while you’re there and experience a special keeper talk at 6:30 & 7:30 p.m. at the Lakeside Terrace about different animals.

Victoria Classic Car Night – Wednesday, August 3rd

 victoria

This Wednesday night hundreds of classic cars will descend on downtown Victoria, Minnesota, for Victoria Classic Car Night. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this show is a great reason to get out during the middle of the week and see an eclectic mix of cars that you might not see at your typical show. It’s looking like it will be a hot one weather wise, so I recommend bringing a convertible.

Flying Legends of Victory Tour – July 26th through July 31st

flying_legends_poster_0_1468501022

Having spent my fair share of time breaking (I really have a knack for it) and subsequently repairing vintage vehicles, I’m always a bit baffled at how airplanes exist. Particularly vintage airplanes. With this in mind, it is really quite remarkable to get up close to legendary warplanes and see their inner mechanical workings. The Flying Legends of Victory Tour provides such an opportunity and if you’re brave enough to take to the skies in a vintage plane they’ll even take you for a ride in a B-17 Flying Fortress.

Thursday Night Car Show at the Minnetonka Drive-In – Thursday, July 28th

minnetonka drive-in

If you find a refreshing absence of activity in your Thursday night family calendar I’d recommend swinging down to the Minnetonka Drive-In for its Thursday night car show. It’s a great opportunity to go for a cruise around Lake Minnetonka, enjoy some classic drive-in food and explore an eclectic mix of vintage rides. The only thing that would make it better is a classic ride of your own. Fortunately, we have 33 you can choose from. We’ll even buy your dinner if you decide to bring one of our cars down.

Loring Park Art Festval – Saturday, July 30th and Sunday, July 31st

Loring

If you’ve not yet got your fix of summer art festivals you should consider checking out the Loring Park Art Festival this weekend. Expect a selection of artistic creations from over 140 artists, local food vendors supplying your favorite fair food and an absolutely great view of the city.

German Grand Prix Viewing Party – Sunday, July 31st

German Grand Prix

Dust off your lederhosen and consider joining us for our German Grand Prix live screening hosted at Morrie’s Luxury Auto Sunday morning. Since the race starts bright and early at 7am we’ll hold off on the Sauerkraut, but that doesn’t rule out German breakfast sausage does it? Or better yet maybe a little strudel?

What’s Going On – Week of 7/18/16

Minneapolis Aquatennial – July 20th through July 23rd

sandcastle

This week the Aquatennial descends on Minneapolis to celebrate the city’s lakes, rivers and streams via 70 plus scheduled activities. I could list them all off here, but it would most definitely mirror that scene in Forrest Gump where Bubba rattles off all the different shrimp dishes. Just take my word for it that there is a multitude of fun events including the Torchlight Parade, waterskiing shows, sand castle contests, fireworks and more.

Bike Night at MIA – Thursday, July 21

bike night

There are most definitely two camps when it comes to bikers. There are people who love them and people who loathe them. If you’re one of the latter you may as well stop reading. If you fancy a good bike and an evening dose of art MIA invites you to bike night, an evening affording the opportunity to ride through the museum (literally), revel with other bike enthusiasts, network with bike groups, indulge in the finest food truck fare and indulge in local brew.

Victoria Car Show – Wednesday, July 6th

Victoria Classic Car Night is quite possibly the best classic car gathering that very few people know about. This event occurs semi-monthly during the summer months and regularly draws hundreds of cars. The event returns tonight at 5pm and runs until 8pm. Read Josh’s recap from a past visit to get a glimpse of what Victoria Classic Car Night has to offer.

Hamel Rodeo – Friday, July 7th through Sunday, July 10th

You don’t need to rent the MHCC Bronco to enjoy the excitement of a little pent up horsepower. Nope – simply slip on your boots, put on your ten gallon hat and head west for the Hamel Rodeo and Bull Ridin’ Bonanza this weekend. When you’re ready for an automotive rodeo mosey on over to the MHCC dojo to see the horses in our stable.

Basilica Block Party – Friday, July 8th and Saturday, July 9th

The Basilica Block Party returns this weekend for it’s 22nd year. The event brings an amplified musical mélange to the grounds of the Basilica of St. Mary and if you’ve not heard of it you’ve probably been under a rock for a while. Performers this time around include Ryan Adams, Gary Clark Jr., Death Cab for Cutie, American Authors, X Ambassadors, the Fray, Milky Chance, Cold War Kids, Andra Day, Craig Finn, Phillip Phillips, and Matt Nathanson.

Play Nintendo Tour –Friday, July 8th through Sunday, July 10th

Have you always had a hankering to hang out with Mario and Luigi? Simply want to spend a weekend afternoon gaming somewhere other than your mother’s basement? If so we recommend you head out to the Mall of America this weekend to experience the Play Nintendo Tour.

British Grand Prix – Sunday, July 10th

All the talk of the Brexit getting’ you down? Well, there one thing British going on this weekend that has us excited and that’s the British Grand Prix. The political arena isn’t the only place where people are butting heads and we can’t wait to see what unfolds between Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg after their shenanigans last week in Austria. We’ll open the doors at 6:30 at Morrie’s Luxury Auto for the 7am race start.
